There were chapters that took place in the 1800s which were super intriguing, but then there were aspect that were just so obvious it hurt. The thing about this book was I loved the beginning-it gripped me instantly with the mystery and gothic atmosphere, but as I got through it I enjoyed it less. I wish I at least had the option for 3.5 which might suit it better. I was-and still am-stuck between giving this book 3 or 4 stars even as I settle for 3. This might be one of the hardest reviews I’ve made only because I’m not even sure whether I loved the book or thought it sucked. But who raised him? He pops back up after a year (coincidently right before the time passes for raising someone expires). I mean the clues all lead in that direction. I assumed through most of the book that Cage had been Spoilerraised by someone after his accident on his motorcycle. My only issue and why I took a star off was the ending. The characters were interesting and well developed. The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. This was an impressive debut novel by this author that is for sure.
